Objectives

The objectives of the programs being implemented by Sanjeevini-KSRLPS are as follows.

 

  1. To effectively implement the poverty reduction and livelihoods promotion programs in the state.
  2. To create an enabling pro poor policy environment for inclusive growth.
  3. To ensure that at least one member from each identified rural poor household, preferably a woman is brought under the Self Help Group (SHG) network to ensure adequate coverage of vulnerable sections of the society.
  4. To focus on setting up strong community based institutions of the rural poor such as SHGs and higher level federations.
  5. To enable the poor to optimize their limited resources through promotion of specialized institutions like Livelihoods collectives, producers’ co-operatives/companies for livelihoods promotion through deriving economies of scale, backward and forward linkages and access to information, credit, technology, markets etc.
  6. To ensure that the poor are provided with the requisite skills for managing their institutions, linking up with markets, managing their existing livelihoods, enhancing their credit absorption capacity and credit worthiness, etc. through continuous capacity building of the targeted families, SHGs, their federations, government functionaries, bankers, Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other key stakeholders.
  7. To work towards achieving universal financial inclusion, beyond basic banking services to all the poor households, SHGs and their federations and would work on both demand and supply side of Financial Inclusion.
  8. To work towards stabilizing and enhancing the existing livelihoods and subsequently diversifying their livelihoods.
  9. To provide support for marketing and other related activities to the institutions of the poor. The range of activities, in marketing support, may include market research, market intelligence, technology, extension, developing backward and forward linkages and building livelihoods collectives and supporting their business plans.
  10. To encourage and support partnerships with public and private organizations and their networks/associations for these activities, particularly for market linkages.
  11. To scale up the existing skill and Placement projects through partnership mode as one of the best investments in youth, and provide impetus to livelihoods opportunities for the poor in emerging markets.
  12. To proactively seek partnerships with Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), for effective implementation.
  13. To bring in convergence among various poverty reduction and empowerment projects.
  14. To build a dedicated support and service structures for providing social and technical guidance to the poor in their overall social progress and livelihood development.
  15. To undertake all relevant activities, including implementation of specific projects funded by Central and State Governments, bilateral, multi-lateral and other funding agencies for elimination of poverty, and livelihoods development of the poor.
